Béatrice Peltre on The Martha Stewart Show

We all know what a fabulous photographer Béatrice Peltre is, but she is equally as good in the kitchen — so good that Martha Stewart recently had her visit the studio and walk her through making a Tartine with Spring Vegetables, Smoked Salmon, Ricotta, and Basil Oil. The show aired on March 11 and is available to watch on the Martha Stewart website. Needless to say, it looks like a good time was had by both Martha and Béatrice.

To date, this nationally syndicated TV spot has just begun to air in 4 U.S. markets, with another 20 markets slated to air it soon. Say hello to Béatrice Peltre

Here I go again with the announcement of another new photographer. With the addition of the amazing food photographer Béatrice Peltre, I’ve reached a couple of my goals for this year. Béatrice is the first photographer that I have in the Northeast region (she’s in Boston and works frequently in NYC). She is also my 15th photographer — this has been my ideal number from the beginning. This isn’t to say I won’t bring on one or two more in the future, but I’m quite happy with 15 for now.

Béatrice is joining the incredible roster of food photographers that I already have and I can honestly say, it’s one of the finest line-ups of food photographers on the planet. With Sylvie in L.A., Michael in Toronto, Helene in Charleston, Mowie in London, Barry in Dublin, and now Béatrice in Boston — I’ve not only have the best of the best, but I have them in key markets around the world.

If you’re not already familiar with Béatrice’s food photography, you’re in for a real surprise. Saying that her work is stunning would be an understatement and it’s really as good as food photography gets. If you don’t think you know her photography, I can promise that you actually do as she’s the author of the very successful food blog, La Tartine Gourmande (a blog that I’ve followed — and loved — for quite some time). She’s also the author of the book of the same title. With so much talent, Béatrice will surely be busy for some time to come — get in touch with me if you’re interested in booking her on your next project.

I’m one lucky guy to have the roster of photographers that I do and I thank everyone of them for the opportunity to work with such great talent — they make my job not only easy, but incredibly rewarding.

Introducing Jay Silverman

As if Jay needs any introduction — if you’ve been in the creative community in L.A. or anywhere in the world for that matter over the course of the last 30 years, you’ll know who Jay is. His client list is ridiculous (in an awesome sort of way), his work is iconic, and for no other reason than the fact that he’s who you hire when you need the best. Olivier Pojzman opens The Gallery at Culver City

Olivier Pojzman along with Steven Rowe and Len Aaron opened The Gallery at Culver City this past weekend. The turnout was unbelievable with nearly 500 people RSVP’ing and quite a few more than that showing up.

If you weren’t able to get to the opening, be sure to stop by the gallery and see Olivier’s work — there were a few new pieces that I hadn’t yet seen and they were stunning to say the least. Reconnecting with Jay Silverman

It really is a small world. What was a brief encounter with a hot young photographer nearly 30 years ago has turned out to be one of the most well-respected and accomplished photographers/directors in L.A. being represented by Primary Reps.

Let me back up a little bit — I originally met Jay Silverman back in 1983 or 1984 while I was still in high school. My photography class was on a field trip to his studio and all of us were in absolute awe of this larger than life celebrity photographer who seemed to have shot anybody who was anybody. Little did he know that this pimple-faced teenager would turn out to be his rep decades later.

Our connection or should I say re-connection should be a testament to the power of social media. I’m usually not one to click on the “people you may know” feature on Linkedin, but when I saw Jay’s name pop up, I was intrigued. One connection request later, a meeting at Jay’s amazing studio in Hollywood and voilà, we’re off to the races.

If you haven’t seen Jay’s work, do yourself a favor and look at some of the remarkable images he’s created. His celebrity portfolio is awe-inspiring and the brands that he’s done advertising work for is impressive. I think it’s going to be interesting to see the reaction I get when I start showing his work around town.

Anyhow, keep an eye out on this site as his work will be posted in the next week.

A food photography workshop with Helene Dujardin in Northern Ireland

Hélène Dujardin is going to be doing a three-day workshop at the beautiful Belle Isle Cookery School in Co. Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. As with any of Hélène’s workshops, participants will get to work intimately with her and learn the business of food photography from one of the best food photographers in the world.

The workshop is currently sold out, stay tuned as more spots may open up in the next couple of weeks.

Adrian Burt now local to the L.A. market

Automotive photographer/CGI artist, Adrian Burt is now working locally out of Los Angeles in addition to his hometown of Stockholm. After spending many weeks a year in L.A., Adrian has found it necessary to work out of a studio on the Westside.

This is great news for anyone looking to shoot their next campaign featuring not only stunning automotive imagery, but the L.A. creative community will also be able to utilize Adrian’s amazing talents in CGI. Adrian is easily one of the best CGI artists in the world and is ready to let L.A.’s creative collective in on his truly inspired work.

New Workshops for 2012

2012 is turning out to be a busy year for the Primary Reps workshop series. We’re currently in pre-production for a food photography workshop in Stockholm, a food photography workshop in NYC, a celebrity portraiture workshop in NYC, and a car photography workshop in L.A. Stay tuned for more details and to learn which photographers will be involved.

A Primary Reps workshop is not your typical workshop — filled with informative speakers along with the best equipment available, you’ll absorb more information then you ever thought possible. Stay tuned as we’ll be making some announcements soon with details on how to sign-up.

Studio Kitchen for Sale West Hollywood

One of our clients is selling one of their display kitchens. It would be perfect as a working kitchen in a studio or as a prop.

Things you should know: With a white painted display, it has three wall cabinets and three base cabinets and measures 126.5″ wide by 118″ high. Note that the width includes extended stiles left and right, so it would have to be re-installed between two walls. The French Silk white paint on the cabinetry is accented with a brown glaze and the decorative latch hardware and hinge finish are satin nickel. The construction type is 1.5″ face frame with flush inset. The display includes drawer accessories such as a flatware divider, spice drawer, and a can storage rack among other features. All the drawers are maple dovetail construction with full extension undermount glides. Moldings are included as shown. Also included with the cabinetry is a never-used 36″ Wolf gas cooktop and a 42″ stainless steel professional hood. Walker Zanger Verde Borgogna marble top with dupont edge detail and backsplash are included, but they may suffer some damage when removed from the current location. They’ll accept almost any reasonable offer. If the price is right, they’ll even throw in the Rohl pot filler that you see in the above picture at no extra charge.

This kitchen would be ideal for a studio, a loft, an apartment unit, or any other space with a flat wall. With the cabinets, the range, and the hood, this is an exceptional value that won’t last long.
